An investigation into L1 interference in Lao EFL students’ writing and translation for curriculum and teaching improvement

L1 interference in Lao students’ English writing and translation is widely believed to be a source of errors, but it has not been taken into account. As result, becomes interlanguage which considered as an error. This research aimed at investigating the errors translation. To collect data, tests were administered 213 (= 30%) EFL university students Department Language (DEL) Vientiane Capital, People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). The data annually analyzed, categorized counted up participants making percentage. It took approximately six months finish analyzing paragraphs translation-test papers. Both grammatical lexical sentence level found due direct word for from English. was also percentage much different. results could used curriculum teaching improvement.
